Rich Internet Application (RIA), translated as Rich Internet Application, is a web application with many of the same features and appearance as desktop applications. RIA requires a browser, sometimes even a browser plug-in or virtual machine to provide the user application. Data manipulation is handled by the server and the user interface and related object manipulation is handled by the client machine.
